“Adhere to your own act, and congratulate yourself if you have done something strange and extravagant and broken the monotony of a decorous age.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
A Brief Argument for Existence
There’s a ceaseless carnival of content out there. People devote their careers to producing the best thought pieces. Curated, tailored information delivered and optimized across every distribution channel imaginable.
Whatever this haphazardly edited, discursive collection of essays should be called, it is not that. There is no mandate: no prescribed topics, no overarching themes, and no promises I can make about what you’ll find in your inbox.
This series of notes exists in order to preserve a cohesive record of my own thinking across time. And to those who encounter my writing — to those whose intellectual paths happen to cross my own — I hope that it makes your journey more interesting.
A Brief Note on Naming
What’s up with the newsletter name? Well, God is dead and we have killed him. To comfort ourselves, we must rely on cheap humor.
